There is pumpkin pie and pumpkin latte. There is pumpkin cereal and pumpkin cookies. If you can think of it, there’s a chance it comes in pumpkin during this time of the year. Including “The Pumpkin Diamond.” Rated in color as Fancy Vivid Orange and measuring 5.54 carats “The Pumpkin Diamond” was mined in Central African Republic and then imported into South Africa for sale. After being cut to a cushion and polished by William Goldberg, it was put to auction at Sotheby’s where it was quickly purchased by Ronald Winston of the House of Harry Winston for the price of $1.3 million (yes, you read that right). $1.3 MILLION! The 5.54 Vivid Orange now sits at an estimated value of $3 million! Winston named the diamond “The Pumpkin Diamond” as he bought it the day before Halloween. Winston set the stone in a ring between two smaller white diamonds. Halle Berry wore the ring to the 2002 Oscars where she won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in Monster’s Ball. The official GIA web site reports it as “one of the largest Fancy Vivid orange natural color diamonds in the world.” “The Pumpkin Diamond” was displayed at the Smithsonian’s “The Splendor of Diamonds” exhibit, alongside The De Beers Millennium Star, the world’s largest top color (D) internally and externally flawless pear-shaped diamond at 203.04 carat and The Heart of Eternity, a 27.64 carat heart-cut blue diamond. So, if you have a few million and happen to get your hands on “The Pumpkin Diamond”, bring it by our store and we will clean it up for you at no charge (as always).  ...
